For How Long?

Anna Hazare has caused quite a stir in the country. For a change, people woke up from their slumber to realize that even they have certain rights in this corruption ridden country. The unity among the people was there to see, but the question to be asked is, were they aware of what were they doing?
For possibly the umpteenth time, the country woke up to the news of yet another incident of Bomb blasts, this time in Delhi, barely two months after the July 13th explosions in Mumbai. Few bunches of cowards entered the country’s capital and set off explosives at their own will at the busy premises of the capital’s High Court killing innocent people yet again. Yet again there was blood strewn around, yet again people died, yet again there was anguish in the eyes of the relatives of those who lost their lives, yet again our toothless, hapless and ‘surviving on ventilator support’ government assured the masses that the culprits will not be spared. But will they ever be nabbed to be spared? That’s not their lookout. This has been a part of every speech of every politician after every attack. This has been the seventh attack in the country post the horrific attacks of 26/11, but the culprits are roaming free, with a clear idea that it will take our agencies ages to nab them and by the time they stumble upon a breakthrough by any chance, they would already be back in their homeland in the shadow of their masters.
The most wretched part of this whole ‘blast day’ saga is the visit of the VVIP (I feel terrible to call them VVIP’s but can’t help it) politicians to hospitals across the city to meet the injured and just to have their 8X10 photograph in the next morning’s newspaper. Any publicity is good publicity. Isn’t it? The hospital instead of looking after the injured are now made busy in looking after their So – Bo visitors who have complete sympathy with the families of the deceased and the injured and announce compensations worth lakhs for the same. But will a few lakhs of currency bring back the dead? Sadly, no!
Rahul Gandhi was made to face a mass protest when he visited AIIMS. No he wasn’t responsible for the blast, but he is one leader along with Barrack Obama who have disappointed us the most after building towers and towers of hope that ‘he will do something for us.’ If Gandhi had to indeed be a leader of the masses, just meeting people and staying in poor farmer’s huts for a night is not the resolve. It’s high time he comes to the forefront and face the music, rather than quietly watching proceedings with shut eyes from the back seat.
But after all this, the country is back to its normal routine. Again people pick up quarrels in the middle of the street for no apparent reason; again the parliament gets adjourned for some sickly actions by the leaders in the house, etc. Others say that people have great spirit in them. But apart from that, it’s just that they have got used to it. Sitting back at home the next day after a blast is not an excuse anymore.
But many questions still remain unanswered; for how long will our country continue to suffer at the hands of those cowards? For how long will our government still give us false hopes that the culprits will be nabbed and brought to book? (unfortunately they can’t be brought to book. Afzal and Kasab are still alive and are treated in a princely manner where here our common man is barely able to make ends meet) for how long will we common people continue loose our relatives in every such attack? For how long will our tax payers hard earned money will continue to be usurped by the Raja’s and the Kalmadi’s (such might be countless in number in a population of 1.2 billion)
Any answers? Sadly, no!

ARE WE READY????

Exam season is finally over! Students are finally breathing free now, apart from a few unlucky chaps who still have to grind through innumerable entrance exams for deciding their careers. The number of students appearing for various entrance exams is rising every year. It might not be long before we have an entrance exam even to decide who will appear for interviews for admission in schools!!!!
Census 2011 reveals that we have crossed the 1.2 billion mark, though it’s amazing that we are still behind China! The Japan Earthquake and the resultant tsunami have not only rattled the pacific nation, but also countries across the world. The amount of destruction caused to the Fukushima atomic power plant has raised alarms 7600 kms away in India too. It has sparked off questions that “Are we ready to face such a calamity??” it has further fuelled debate regarding the construction of the alleged nuclear power station at Jaitapur in Maharashtra.
The damage in Japanese cities had been reduced to a considerable extent, eventhough they felt the quake in the same intensity due to their infrastructure which has been made earthquake resistant as they are well aware that they fall in an earthquake prone zone. But this is not the case in our India. Here, buildings collapse even without an earthquake and the reasons found are faulty coustruction or some land greedy human fidgeted with the allotted FSI of the building just to increase his own space!!! ‘In India man can survive without food but not without land. He is hungrier to exploit empty spaces compared to hunger for food.’  If at all we face a calamity like Japan, the city’s infrastructure will come crashing down like nine pins.
The biggest concern is that most of our nuclear power stations like the one at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, Tarapur on the Maharashtra - Gujarat border are along the coasts. The Jaitapur plant now has been given clearance with ‘36’, yes ‘36’ conditions by the ‘MoEF’ (Ministry of Environment and Foresting). If so many conditions had to be put forth, why has the plan been passed in the first place? Also, the land of the poor farmers has been encroached upon for this purpose. The government says compensation will be provided but till when will it last? And what after that?  Development is good but it should not destroy the lives of the poor’. Mumbai comes under zone 3, meaning a maximum of 6.5 intensity earthquake can b expected. ‘But calamity does not look at zones, does it?’ It will be really helpful that our ever so selfish builders start building earthquake resistant buildings and our disaster management society be made more efficient. It is also the duty of our excessively slow government to stop encroachment of agricultural land and also to crack down on the builder-babu nexus.
Jaitapur is a really sensitive issue and quick steps should be taken to resolve it or else the after effects can be dangerous.
But the question still lingers: “ARE WE READY??”

WAKE UP INDIA!!!!!!!

The morning is serene
The trees are green
Flags are flying high atop towers
Its time to blossom for a flower
Its high time we have our say
Wake up India!!!!!!!! Its Republic Day!!!!!

The largest democracy of the world turns 62 today as a republic. I m not writing this to count our achievements as a republic. I wanted to write something special so that people can realize the true value of being an Indian.
Everyday we see it on news channels, read it in newspapers about how our democracy is going to the dogs every passing day. “But why should we bother?? if the government is useless, we cant help it!!!.” This is our attitude towards such issues. I was really embarrassed by one message that I received from my friend saying that now beer is cheaper then onions. This goes to show that our country is in such poor hands. I am not saying that the opposition is good either. They are equally useless. Instead of helping the government to curb the atrocities committed on the common man, they want to gain political mileage by demanding the resignations of some or the other ministers every day and by wanting to hoist our national flag in a sensitive area like Kashmir. Why??? Doesn’t Kashmir have its own chief minister to do that??? In short our entire political system is rusted.
But in some ways, we are also responsible for the events that have been taking place in our motherland. We have elected these leaders of ours, haven’t we??? For the past six decades we are being fooled with false promises yet we vote for such goons thinking that God will install a software of sense in their system someday or the other. Sadly, their system doesn’t accept such softwares. Their system runs only on two softwares: Power, Money and more Money!!!!!!!
The water has now boiled over the heads. Yet the people are quiet, for reasons best known to them. If they think that the corrupt will be punished by the law, it might just happen that their children or even grandchildren will be a lawyer or a judge for a 75 – 80 year old case of a scam that took place when they were in school!!!! Its high time people have their say in every small issue concerned with their welfare or progress. Its now upto the quiet people of our country to make our rulers realize that scams are not the identity of our country. Its because of them that the positive events taking place in our country are never highlighted. If you want to change the system, you need to be the system yourself.
And today, on this special day, spare a thought for our soldiers, who inspite of the atrocious weather conditions and in temperatures of – 30 degrees, are guarding our borders with a smile on their faces. They are our real heroes, the real daredevils. It is because of them that the R – day celebrations are on in full swing all over the country, I m writing this for you and you are busy in your daily chores. A grand salute to them and their undying spirit.
All I would like to say in the end is WAKE UP INDIA, so that next year, on this very day, with much more pride in our hearts we can say WE ARE PROUD TO BE INDIANS!!!!!!!!!
JAI HIND!!!!!!
Thanks guys!!!! Love to all and no money to our greedy and selfish politicians.
