For How Long?

Anna Hazare has caused quite a stir in the country. For a change, people woke up from their slumber to realize that even they have certain rights in this corruption ridden country. The unity among the people was there to see, but the question to be asked is, were they aware of what were they doing?
For possibly the umpteenth time, the country woke up to the news of yet another incident of Bomb blasts, this time in Delhi, barely two months after the July 13th explosions in Mumbai. Few bunches of cowards entered the country’s capital and set off explosives at their own will at the busy premises of the capital’s High Court killing innocent people yet again. Yet again there was blood strewn around, yet again people died, yet again there was anguish in the eyes of the relatives of those who lost their lives, yet again our toothless, hapless and ‘surviving on ventilator support’ government assured the masses that the culprits will not be spared. But will they ever be nabbed to be spared? That’s not their lookout. This has been a part of every speech of every politician after every attack. This has been the seventh attack in the country post the horrific attacks of 26/11, but the culprits are roaming free, with a clear idea that it will take our agencies ages to nab them and by the time they stumble upon a breakthrough by any chance, they would already be back in their homeland in the shadow of their masters.
The most wretched part of this whole ‘blast day’ saga is the visit of the VVIP (I feel terrible to call them VVIP’s but can’t help it) politicians to hospitals across the city to meet the injured and just to have their 8X10 photograph in the next morning’s newspaper. Any publicity is good publicity. Isn’t it? The hospital instead of looking after the injured are now made busy in looking after their So – Bo visitors who have complete sympathy with the families of the deceased and the injured and announce compensations worth lakhs for the same. But will a few lakhs of currency bring back the dead? Sadly, no!
Rahul Gandhi was made to face a mass protest when he visited AIIMS. No he wasn’t responsible for the blast, but he is one leader along with Barrack Obama who have disappointed us the most after building towers and towers of hope that ‘he will do something for us.’ If Gandhi had to indeed be a leader of the masses, just meeting people and staying in poor farmer’s huts for a night is not the resolve. It’s high time he comes to the forefront and face the music, rather than quietly watching proceedings with shut eyes from the back seat.
But after all this, the country is back to its normal routine. Again people pick up quarrels in the middle of the street for no apparent reason; again the parliament gets adjourned for some sickly actions by the leaders in the house, etc. Others say that people have great spirit in them. But apart from that, it’s just that they have got used to it. Sitting back at home the next day after a blast is not an excuse anymore.
But many questions still remain unanswered; for how long will our country continue to suffer at the hands of those cowards? For how long will our government still give us false hopes that the culprits will be nabbed and brought to book? (unfortunately they can’t be brought to book. Afzal and Kasab are still alive and are treated in a princely manner where here our common man is barely able to make ends meet) for how long will we common people continue loose our relatives in every such attack? For how long will our tax payers hard earned money will continue to be usurped by the Raja’s and the Kalmadi’s (such might be countless in number in a population of 1.2 billion)
Any answers? Sadly, no!
